Unfortunately trappers had to remove and relocate this alligator after people feed him fish remains. He was relying on people for food and getting “too friendly” to humans.

One of the best things I personally enjoy about seeing young kids fish is the fact that after three and one half hours out catching Reds, Blackdrum and Snapper; they refused to leave the boat and fish until the adults say it is time to go. Larry brought down John and Ryan for the enjoyable day backwater; and what do you think happened while Capt Jim was filleting their fish, they caught a 10 pound Tarpon right at the dock. Larry has already called back and is planning an offshore excursion with some of his friends from Bonita Springs. Parents bring the kids, we love making a memory for them.

Eco-Tour, no, wait a minute, Off-shore fishing trip!

The McBride clan signed up with Double R’s to do a 2 1/2 hour eco-tour through the Ten Thousand Islands. Arriving an hour and one half early, the group had a chance to wander about the marina to check out what was going on. Lo and behold guess who was cleaning a mess of fish. You guessed it, Captain Jim. After speaking with Jim for five minutes, the group was back in the office and decided to change their day from an eco-tour to a four and one half hour fishing trip. One of the kids, Nathan, who’s birthday was the following week was like kid ready to open his Christmas presents. Boy they were rewarded. As you can see from the photo, a 30 pound Cobia was the prize of the day, accompanied by Trout, Pompano, the thrill of having a Tarpon hooked up for two jumps and of course an encounter with a Goliath Grouper. Great family fun and a memory that will last forever, especially for the kids.

Groupon works again! George and his family purchased a Groupon for a three and one half hour fishing trip in the back waters of the 10,000 Islands. No sooner did they leave the dock, Captain Jim called me and said they would like to change the trip to an offshore adventure. Boy are they glad they did! Non-stop action. Black-tipped Shark, Pompano, Trout, and Goliath Grouper. The family had such a great time that they went back out and did it all over again two days later. Offshore fishing in the 10,000 Islands is insane.

Graphics Guy’s SEO Work Pays Off

Robert Hazelrigg “The Graphics Guy” not only re-designed Double R’s website, but is in charge of optimizing our position on the web. Those efforts paid off once again as John and his three buddies found us online. They joined Captain Schmidt for a four and one half hour fishing adventure offshore in the Gulf. Another productive trip resulting in a nice catch of Reds, Pompano and Mackeral.

Weekend Getaway

Mr and Mrs Evans decided to getaway from it all and enjoy a weekend at the beautiful Port of the Islands Resort. The couple decided to take in the Ten Thousand Islands by doing a backwater fishing trip with Captain Jim. Observing all of the natural beauty and wildlife this area has to offer, the couple was able to land a couple of nice Redfish and enjoy a fish fry upon their return.

Wayne and three of his buddies used their Groupon offshore fishing certificate and joined Captain Jim Schmidt for an exciting four and one half hours out in the Gulf. Shark and Goliath Grouper provided the big tugs with the day being capped off by reeling in these nice Redfish. A fun bunch of guys. Look forward to seeing them again.
