Ian and his family came down for a four 1/2 hr morning trip with Captain Jim. Because decent winds were expected, Captain Jim tucked the group into some protected areas where they had a nice catch of Trout and Whiting.

Loyal repeat customers, Jonathan and Natasha, had another exciting all day offshore adventure with Captain Jim Schmidt. On top of the catch of Cobia, Black-Tipped Shark, Mackeral, Trout and Pompano, the couple got to witness Leopard Rays darting into the air; as well as a number of sea turtles, keeping the boat company. Another great trip, another satisfied customer, another lifer!

Nice Relaxing Morning, Catch and Release

David Young, who was referred to us by our friends at the Marco Island Beach Resort; (a quality hotel that everyone should experience) joined Captain Jason for a nice relaxing morning in the backwaters of the Ten Thousand Islands. The photo shows a nice slot Red that was landed and carefully released. Several other nice fish filled out the day. We’re sure to see David again soon!

Love Taking Kids Fishing!

The Kaiser Family joined Captain Jim for a nice backwater fishing trip recently. Jim decided that he would tend to the children and allow mom and dad quality time to fish if they agreed to bait their own hooks. As we often do with young children, Captain Jim assisted them by hooking a fish and handing the rod to the youngsters to bring it aboard. Even though it was a windy day, the family was able to bring in a nice catch of Redfish and Snapper. We love families with young kids because our goal is not only to create a memory but to get the kids hooked on this great hobby.

Jorge and his family have been loyal customers of Double R’s Fishing and Tour Company since 2007. We are fortunate enough to have them come from Atlanta, GA, to fish with us three or four times a year. Having developed a strong bond with Captain Jim Schmidt, they ventured out into the Gulf. Once again, they were rewarded with a beautiful catch of Mackeral, Trout, and Pompano. (As displayed in the accompanying picture). Ellen and I visited with Jorge and his family shortly after their trip as they were finishing up their wonderful fish fry. We really love and appreciate our loyal repeat customers.

Captain Jim Schmidt’s secret spot yielded yet another wonderful catch and day of excitement for the Koppinger family. Non-stop action resulted in a catch of Cobia, Trout, Mackeral, Pompano, Bluefish, Whiting, Goliath Grouper, Lane Snapper and a Black-Tipped Shark. Don’t know what else to say about offshore fishing right now; but get your family and friends out there and experience the fun.

The Marines have Landed Again!

It was indeed our distinguished honor to provide a complimentary offshore trip for five brave heros on March 29, 2012. Young Athletes Enjoy an Afternoon on the Gulf

The Marx group joined Captain Schmidt for an afternoon of fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands. What a trip they had! Mackeral, Pompano, Black-Tipped Shark, Trout and Whiting along with a few break offs from some huge Goliath Grouper kept this group busy for the entire four and one half hours. I’m sure after the fish fry they all hit the sack pretty early.

Eco-tour, Offshore Trip

Eric and his family came down from Clearwater to stay at the Port of the Islands Resort for a few days. They decided to do a combo trip with Captain Jim Schmidt. Their morning venture was highlighted by a nice catch of Mackeral, Trout and Flounder. The family took their catch to a local restaurant in Goodland and capped off the day with a nice fish fry.

Bob and his buddies decided they had such a good time on our 2 1/2 hour eco tour that they would experience fishing the Ten Thousand Islands with Captain Jim Schmidt. After venturing offshore to a wreck, which Captain Jim won’t even disclose to me; they returned with plenty of Speckeld Trout, Silver Trout and Mackeral. Captain Jim is the best!
