GatorManatee Tours

The 10,000 Islands is a perfect place to observe manatee's in their natural habitat. Our tour introduces you to the home of South Florida's largest herd of manatees in the comfort of a covered pontoon boat.

Our manatee viewing tour is fully narrated by knowledgeable local Captains. You'll learn interesting facts on the manatee, alligator, dolphin, and tropical bird species, along with information on the Everglades National Park.

On any of our Eco tours, you're likely to see manatees, alligators, dolphins, and turtles, as well as many species of rare and endangered tropical birds. Some of the tropical birds species are the Ibis, Egret, Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Pelican, and the American Bald Eagle.  The main objective of this tour is to see manatee so we stay primarily in the man made environment of the canal between the marina and the Gulf of Mexico.

Manatees are herbivores (plant-eaters), feeding on a large variety of submerged and floating freshwater plants which are found in the canal area.  Manatees need fresh drinking water so they tend to herd in areas of controlled water flow like Port of the Islands Marina.

Manatee viewing is a pastime that can be enjoyed in any season, by any age group. Unlike some activities, special equipment is not required. Wildlife watchers need to come equipped only with a sense of appreciation for the living resources and the knowledge that viewing wildlife is rather a thrilling experience but please remember that wildlife are on no schedule.

No matter what time of year it is, manatee viewing is sure to be a great experience for everyone!
