Florida Nature Tours

Naples / Marco Island FL Eco-Tours Manatee Viewing

Double R’s Eco-Nature Tours are located at Port of the Islands Resort in the FL Everglades

Naples FL Manatee TourThe three hour eco-nature tour starts in the heart of the Florida Everglades. The eco-nature tour includes twenty to thirty minutes of manatee viewing and then takes us out into the middle of the estuaries of the 10,000 Islands to observe the wildlife inhabiting the largest mangrove jungle in the United States of America. Many of our clients representing 27 different countries around the world marvel at the natural beauty of this very unique eco-system. You’re likely to see manatees, alligators, dolphins, and turtles, as well as many species of rare and endangered tropical birds. Some of the tropical birds species include the Ibis, Egret, Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Pelican, and the American Bald Eagle. Our Eco-Tour is fully narrated by knowledgeable local Captains and our sight-seeing boats are stable, comfortable and USCG approved for 6 passengers per vessel. You’ll learn interesting facts about the history of the area and the unique wildlife you will encounter. We want our guests to feel comfortable, so we suggest you bring with you sandals or flip flops, cameras and polarized sunglasses to help view the manatees. We provide bottled water, but encourage you to bring any other snacks or beverages you would like. The Port of the Islands marina has a general store should you forget anything. Although we see manatee and wildlife 99% of the time, everything in nature is governed by the seasons and weather. Every month has its special wildlife and nature viewing opportunities, and sometimes you will be able to watch the same seasonal rituals for a period of weeks or months. Bird in FlightSuch as ospreys nesting in old trees or man-made platforms or alligators sunning on the banks. In Florida, wildlife and nature viewing requires subtlety, time and patience. While there are no guarantees animals and nature will abide by their normal internal clocks–millennia-old time schedules most of us still know little about although always fun to go look. And learn a little about these natural events and history of the area along the way. It’s never the wrong time to enjoy Florida on the water.

Naples Fishing Charters Testimonials

"Every time we come to Marco/Naples we make sure we go on this tour. Each time the guide is great and we get to see tons of birds, learn about the mangroves and most importantly enjoy a relaxing day on a boat looking at Florida wildlife the way it is meant to be appreciated. A family of Dolphins zooms past and plays in the wake. Manatees doing what they do best moving slowly. Of course the main attraction for our family is seeing the gators sunning themselves on the edge of the water. We have done this tour several times and each time is a new adventure. A great day of family fun."

"The two and a half hour manatee viewing & nature tour started at the Port of the Islands Marina. We took a pontoon boat from the marina into the channel where, within sight of the dock, we spotted our first manatee. The pontoon boats were shaded and extremely stable. I highly recommend this tour for families with small children. We headed out into the main channel. We saw a few birds and some gators. They were pretty amazing sleeping there on the bank and much larger then we expected."
"The natural habitats we passed were interesting and we saw a bald eagle. The crew has a name for it but I can't remember what that was. The cruise was also fully narrated by a knowledgeable local Captain which kept my boys (big & small) entertained."
"He told us that often the manatee will swim up to the boat close enough to touch. My sons were very excited about this possibility. They were also interested to find out that it is illegal to feed wild manatees and alligators. Not that I would have let them."
"We were able to get some nice shots of the local birds and went shelling on Panther Island."
"It was all incredibly beautiful. If you are looking for a nice family cruise to see some gentle creatures and experience the water, this is an excellent choice."
